selected for this research

Among the 26 certified traditional products in Portugal, we selected seven for our research, basing the choice on criteria such as product type, implemented innovations, cultural diversity, economic impact, interaction with the contemporary market, popularity, national recognition, global relevance, and ease of obtaining information. Each chosen product exemplifies a balance between art, history, innovation, and economic and cultural impact, providing a comprehensive view of Portugal’s rich artisanal traditions and their evolution in the current context. Initially, we interviewed 13 artisans associated with these productions, who agreed to participate in this project. We intend to expand participation to include more voices and experiences of artisans, in an effort to further enrich our understanding and celebration of Portugal’s artisanal traditions, strengthening the dialogue between the past and contemporary innovations.
