The Ocri Platform - Creative Gazes

This platform was born in the summer of 2024 from a master’s dissertation in Communication and Management of Creative Industries at the University of Porto. It is the result of a comprehensive study on how traditional crafts intertwine with the Creative Industries in Portugal.

In the dissertation, I argue the importance of recognizing innovation in traditional craft practices and the need to constantly reinterpret cultural heritage. Recreations are essential for keeping traditions alive and relevant, both for local communities and for each of us.

The “Ocri – Creative Gazes” platform is a space where tradition is renewed through innovation. Here, classic handcrafted artifacts are reimagined by a contemporary vision. In the works presented and the stories told of the artifacts and artists, there is an effort to celebrate knowledge, communication, the new life of traditional works, and the importance of tradition in today’s world.

The main objective of this platform is to promote the dynamic interaction between tradition and innovation within the realm of traditional artisanal arts, highlighting the relevance and diversity of Portuguese cultural heritage, valuing the producers, and encouraging their reinterpretation and appreciation through the lens of the Creative Industries.

Join us on this enriching journey through art, history, and innovation. Explore, learn, and let yourself be inspired by the universe of Portuguese craftsmanship. Come to appreciate and revitalize Portuguese cultural heritage with your own creative gaze!
